Home Staging on a Budget

How many of you believe that Home Staging is decorating? Change your mind set right now. Home Staging is MARKETING!

Just as companies work on packing, display and advertising the approach is the same.

First step: Packaging or packing.

An accredited staging professional can help you with advice on what will help you get your home photo ready. What you may consider prepacking, donating, and storing. Once you understand the photo ready aspect of getting ready to sell much of this work can be done for very little money or “sweat equity”. If you need assistance with these steps a stager can give you resources to help.

Second step: Packaging or packing.

Photos online will set the tone. It will be the deciding factor in whether the buyer will contact an agent to get a showing of your property. Skimping on this step may keep your house on the market longer. A stager can help with proper placement of your existing furnishing to draw the buyers’ eyes towards the best features of a home and give a sense of the scale to each room. Stagers may also suggest adding some affordable enhancements. Remember it’s all about the photos!

Third step: Packaging or packing.

This is where your agent takes the lead. Marketing the listing on the MLS. Talking about the listing to their fellow agents. Coordinating any Realtor tours and open houses and showing. Many of these now are also done virtually.

Take the time to do the work it will pay off in a quick and lucrative sale.

Client Endorsement

Many thanks again for all of the great information and advice that you gave us. It is empowering to look at your home from the perspective of being a seller. Or, in my case, of preparing to be a seller just in case something in my life changes that forces me to become a seller. One thing I know now is that I am nowhere near ready to move.
Take care and enjoy the almost Spring weather.

Shock? I could not believe my living room/dining room could look so good. I now have more floor space and the rooms are balanced.

Creatively “out of the box” thinking. I was a little skeptical, but now I’m a believer.
